The New York Times called The Inner City (Wildside Press, 2021) “haunting and quirky,” and her six novels and five other collections maintain that weird and oddly resonant slant. Her stories have appeared in over 130 literary and speculative magazines, from Asimov’s to Conjunctions to Fantasy & Science Fiction. Her last novel (The Splendid City Angry Robot, 2022) is a political satire with a ridiculous cat and a state that secedes from the U.S. Her latest collection, A Slice of the Dark (Fairwood Press, 2022) is both dark and sly, featuring characters who find themselves outside the normal. She has received an O. Henry award, been shortlisted for the Pushcart prize, the Iowa short fiction award, the Bellwether award, and the Shirley Jackson award.
